Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, we have seen hunger reach acute levels in the countries where we work. Members of the Mary’s Meals family are telling us that they have never before seen such desperation spread so widely around the world.

Where we are now

We are determined to keep our promise to the children who depend on Mary’s Meals – sometimes the only food they receive in a day.

The UN recently published a report calling for urgent attention to be given to the plight of children globally. It highlights the catastrophic effect that loss of school meals during the coronavirus pandemic could have in the world’s poorest countries.

Through our Covid-19 response activities, we are now reaching nearly all of the children who rely on our nutritious meals at home. Working with governments, community leaders and our trusted partners, we have developed new methods of distribution to reach children in their communities and provide food to them at home, in their new places of learning.

But our work won’t stop. Still, we hear stories of hardship and hunger, and there are still children we are yet to reach.

If you can, please help us to keep reaching the children who rely on Mary’s Meals each school day – your donations, prayers and support are needed now more than ever.

A message from Magnus, our Founder and CEO

“Of course, we have long been aware of that basic need for every child to receive a daily meal in their place of education. It is why Mary’s Meals exists. But that need for a daily meal is crying out, more loudly and more urgently than ever. We need to do everything in our strength to ensure that cry is heard amidst everything else that is happening in the world.”

How we're protecting communities

In areas where life was already hard, it’s just got much more difficult. With weaker healthcare and communications systems, the impact on children living in some of the world’s poorest communities will be devastating. But with your help, we can help to keep children and their communities safe.

Promoting hand hygiene

We’re distributing soap and hygiene information to families to help prevent the spread of the virus.

Encouraging social distancing

We’re abiding by social distancing guidance at our community food collection points and explaining why.

Supporting local communities

As well as feeding hungry children, we’re continuing to support communities by sourcing food locally.

In uncertain times, your generosity is needed more than ever.
